State Bank of India (SBI) conducts an exam for recruitment to the post of Probationary Officer (PO) for its branches across the country.

Eligibility

1. Educational Qualification: (AS ON 01.07.2017)
Graduation in any discipline from a recognised University or any equivalent qualification recognised as such bythe Central Government. Those who are in the Final year/Semester of their Graduation may also applyprovisionally subject to the condition that, if called for interview, they will have to produce proof of having passedthe graduation examination on or before 01.07.2017. Candidates having integrated dual degree (IDD) certificateshould ensure that the date of passing the IDD is on or before 01.07.2017. Candidates possessing qualification ofChartered Accountant may also apply.

Note:

  1. The date of passing eligibility examination will be the date appearing on the marksheet or provisionalcertificate issued by the University / Institute. In case the result of a particular examination is posted on thewebsite of the University / Institute, a certificate issued by the appropriate authority of the University / Instituteindicating the date on which the result was posted on the website will be taken as the date of passing. (2) Candidate should indicate the percentage obtained in Graduation calculated to the nearest two decimals inthe online application. Where CGPA/ OGPAis awarded, the same should be converted into percentage andindicated in online application. If called for interview, the candidate will have to produce a certificate issued bythe appropriate authority inter alia stating that the norms of the University regarding conversion of grade intopercentage and the percentage of marks scored by the candidate in terms of norms. (3) Calculation of Percentage: The percentage marks shall be arrived at by dividing the total marks obtained bythe candidate in all the subjects in all semester(s)/year(s) by aggregate maximum marks in all the subjectsirrespective of honours / optional / additional optional subject, if any. This will be applicable for thoseUniversities also where Class / Grade is decided on basis of Honours marks only. The fraction of percentageso arrived will be ignored i.e. 59.99% will be treated as less than 60% and 54.99% will be treated as less than55%.

2. Age Limit (As on 01.04.2017)
Not below 21 years and not above 30 years as on 01.04.2017 i.e candidates must have been born not earlier than02.04.1987 and not later than 01.04.1996 (both days inclusive)

Test Duration & Pattern (SBI PO 2017)

Preliminary Examination: Preliminary Examination consisting of Objective Tests for 100 marks will be conducted online. This test would be of 1 hour duration consisting of 3 Sections as follows

Main Examination: Main Examination will consist of Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 50 marks. Both the Objective and Descriptive Tests will be online. Candidates will have to answer Descriptive test by typing on the computer. Immediately after completion of Objective Test, Descriptive Test will be administered.

The objective test is immediately followed by a descriptive test.

(ii) Descriptive Test: 

The Descriptive Test of 30 minutes duration with 50 marks will be a Test of English Language (Letter Writing & Essay). The candidates are required to qualify in the Descriptive Test by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank. Descriptive Test paper of only those candidates will be evaluated who have scored qualifying marks in the Objective Tests and are placed adequately high as per total marks in Objective Test.

Selection Process

The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination (Phase-I) will not be added for the selection and only the marks obtained in Main Examination (Phase-II), both in Objective Test and Descriptive Test, will be added to themarks obtained inGD&Interview(Phase-III)forpreparationof thefinalmeritlist. The candidates will have to qualify both in Phase-II and Phase-III separately. Marks secured by the candidates in the Written Test (out of 250 marks) are converted to out of 75 and marks secured in Group Discussion & Interview (out of 50 marks) are converted to out of 25. The final merit list is arrived at after aggregating converted marks of Written Test and Group Discussion &Interview out of 100 for each category. The selection will be made from the top merit ranked candidates in each category. Results of the candidates who have qualified for GD & Interview and the list of candidates finally selected will be made available on the Bank’s website. Final select list will be published in Employment News/Rozgar Samachar and also on Bank’s website.

Eligibility

1. Nationality: A candidate must be a citizen of India in order to apply for the post of clerical cadre in State Bank of India.
2. Age Limit: (As on 01.04.2016) Not below 20 years and not above 28 years as on 01.04.2016 i.e candidates must have been born not earlier than02.04.1988 and not later than 01.04.1996 (both days inclusive)
3. Educational Qualification:
• 12th Standard (10 + 2) pass or equivalent qualification with a minimum of aggregate 60% marks (55% for SC/ ST/ PWD/ XS).
Or
• A degree (Graduation level) from a recognized university.

Those who are in the final Semester/ year of Graduation may also apply provisionally subject to the condition that,if called for interview/joining, they will have to produce proof of having passed the Graduation Examination on orbefore 30.06.2016.Candidates having integrated dual degree (IDD) certificate should ensure that the date of passing the IDD is on orbefore 30.06.2016.

The questions in objective tests, except for the test of General English, will be bilingual i.e., English &Hindi. Thecandidates are required to qualify in each of the Tests by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank.

Final Selection:

The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination (Phase-I) will not be added for the selection and only themarks obtained in Main Examination (Phase-II) will be added to the marks obtained in Interview (Phase-III) (ifinterview is held) for preparation of the final merit list. Final selection will be made on the basis of candidate’sperformance in the test (main examination) and interview (if interview is held) taken together.Results of the candidates who have qualified for Interview and the list of candidates finally selected will be madeavailable on the Bank’s website. Final select list will be published in Employment News/ Rozgar Samachar.
